16 Jan 99 - 07:55 PM (#54464) Subject: RE: LYR. ADD: Trip to Jerusalem From: Frank McGrath Excellent Mick. I had just cracked open my LP to type out the words and I am currently listening to Christy in fine form and sounding very young. So I'll put in the sleeve notes for the song. The Trip to Jerusalem was written by Joe Dolan who wrote the following: Great song. Best Regards |

16 Jan 99 - 11:40 PM (#54500) Subject: RE: LYR. ADD: Trip to Jerusalem From: Alice Now, if you are wondering how I found a Lebanese online news site, well, it's because I have a news tracker that I set up on my Excite page that tracks articles about folk music, and the keywords include Irish music. Isn't the internet grand? |
17 Jan 99 - 12:48 PM (#54535) Subject: RE: LYR. ADD: Trip to Jerusalem From: Mike Ireland Your still talking to me then Big Mick. Many thanks for these words. Its a great saving on going to the music library and getting the tape out and trying to decipher the words. Thanks again. Mike ps and to you Frank |
17 Jan 99 - 03:06 PM (#54545) Subject: RE: LYR. ADD: Trip to Jerusalem From: Big Mick Mike, Of course I am still talking to you. It wasn't you who seemed rude, it was me. Context is very difficult to get into a thread sometimes. And your response back to the apology was gracious and genuine. So, onward we go. All the best, Mick |

31 Jan 20 - 01:04 PM (#4031377) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Trip to Jerusalem (Joe Dolan) From: GUEST,michaelr Is this the same Joe Dolan who was a member of Sweeney's Men? The tune, by the way, is the same as "Muirsheen Durkin." |
31 Jan 20 - 03:29 PM (#4031389) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Trip to Jerusalem (Joe Dolan) From: Steve Shaw The instrumental tunes at the end of Christy's singing are absolute star quality! They're Mullingar Races and The Rocky Road. It's a fabulous album. Christy live is always the best way to hear him post-Planxty, but this album is terrific. |
31 Jan 20 - 03:36 PM (#4031390) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Trip to Jerusalem (Joe Dolan) From: Steve Shaw It was that same Joe Dolan, Michael. It's a bit confusing because there was a different Joe Dolan who was more active in the pop music world. |

31 Jan 20 - 05:32 PM (#4031413) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Trip to Jerusalem (Joe Dolan) From: Steve Shaw You're right to correct me (I was unwisely relying on memory). Sorry about that. Even more annoying in that I play both tunes. The "To Dublin" bit is often omitted from the tune name. I got the name mixed up with the slip jig, The Rocky Road To Dublin. Still, a rose by any other name... |
