To be honest, I had never heard about this singer before today, but anyone who has a paragraph like this in his Obit in the Globe & Mail must have been one interesting guy.

"In the late 1940s, Mr. Edwards started a travelling circus and used Regina as a home base while he toured the country with his menagerie, including his fortune-telling horse Kitten, an elephant who played the harmonica, a dog who sang harmony and a bicycle-riding chimpanzee."

Yodelling ain't what it used to be.

I remember hearing him when I was a boy. I can still hear him singing "When it's apple blossom time in Annapolis Valley"

What a life! He was still working and enjoying singing well into his 90's. Amazing. So glad that he passed peacefully.

My thoughts are with his wife of 63 years (63 years!!!!) and his family and friends.

Thanks, Sian, for sharing about this incredible man.

I was comming back to Montreal from London Ontario and read the article on his passing in the Toronto Globe and Mail. I happened to aquire a number of his song sheets at a local auction. Now I will place this article with them. But what made it very (not sure what adjective to use) weard, real, strange, ironic, was I was riding the rail in comfort and thinking how it must have been during the depression riding the rails.

Thankfully, I had several of his recordings, which my younger daughter has added to her country music collection.
