Hi Folks ~ finally found a tune I can't locate lyrics to. Thought I'd check here ... TIA. The tune is called "Beulah Land" by Gillian Welch. I believe she recorded it on a tribute albumb to Mississippi John Hurt ... Avalon Blues?

The album is "Avalon Blues: A Tribute to the Music of Mississippi John Hurt," Vanguard CD 79582, 2001.

I listened to a sound sample, and the words I heard Gillian Welch singing are:
    ...outshines the sun.
    I got a mother in Beulah land that outshines the sun.

I also listened to a couple of sound samples of Mississippi John Hurt singing BEULAH LAND, and the lyrics seem to match. His song is a version of one that is commonly called GLORY LAND or DO LORD. Lyrics of his song and several related versions are posted in the thread Lyr Req: Do Lord, Oh Do Lord, and in related threads that are linked at the top of the page.

Excellent! Thanks folks ... with your help, I was able to piece it together. I have the Avalon Blues CD ... but I am hearing impaired, and cannot understand lyrics unless I have them written so I can see them. I'm a big Gillian Welch fan, and that song was so hauntingly beautiful I just HAD to know the lyrics.
