13 Dec 05 - 06:01 PM (#1626715) Subject: French noel questions From: GUEST,leeneia Our beloved guitarist wants to sing and play French noels. She went to a high school with a strong French program, and she used to have a "whole sheaf" of French noels. Now she wants to sing them again. What makes a song a French noel? We have three so far - Il est ne le divin enfant, Entre le Bouef, and Noel nouvelet. (sp) Can anybody suggest any others? I would like to find MIDI's of the songs, then I could lower the key for all us altos. I tried searching, but apparently I need song titles. (I never learned French.) |

14 Dec 05 - 10:08 AM (#1627152) Subject: RE: French noel questions From: GUEST,leeneia Sad to say, that site, which looks so promising, is rife with flaws. Most of the links don't work - the songs are not available on the server. The link to "Guillo bring your tambourine" does work, but when I try to put the lyrics in, the lyrics don't transfer. I know! I'll take the titles off the site and see if I can find them elsewhere. Stay tuned for further developments. |

There's a book called The International Book of Christmas Carols, published by Stephen Greene Press and distributed by Walton Music Corp. Les, The Oxford Book of Carols is an idea, but I would have to enter the note on computer, type in French (a language I don't know) and transpose them for us altos and figure out the chords. I was hoping to download the songs so as not to make this project my life's work. |
