'Catters,

I'm extremely happy to announce that Niamh Parsons will be performing at Dusty Strings in Seattle, Washington on March 22nd, 2006. I am absolutely over the moon! Niamh has been an absolute Muse to me as a singer, especially of Irish music.

We just got confirmation a few days ago. "O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"

(Begins to dance around swishing her skirts and informing random passersby, "We got Niamh!" in her best Ann Reinking impression...)

I hope you enjoy the concert, Molly. She puts on a terrific performance. I was surprised to find out how familiar she was with Mudcat.

Joe--I'm sure I will. I've seen her live a few times, but never in my own backyard. It'll be a huge thrill to really get to spend some time talking to her. (I may not have mentioned that I work at Dusty Strings. :))

OK, I'm shamelessly refreshing this, but the concert is coming up soon and I'd like to make sure the word is getting out.

I've been listening to her new album, and was thrilled to hear some really excellent songs I'd never heard before--a few WWI ballads, traditional gems and even a modern, extremely topical song. Plus she covers Linda Thompson's "No Telling", which I think is a simply extraordinary song. Having been slightly disappointed with my other favorite artist's newest album (not naming any names ;)), this was a welcome surprise.

I just wanted to share with everyone that the concert last night was absolutely tremendous. Niamh and Graham were fantastic and it was very close to a sold-out crowd! They seemed to really enjoy the venue, and here's hoping they'll come back! (Meaning absolutely no disrespect to the Tractor, Conor Byrne's, etc., but I imagine it might be refreshing every so often to play a venue where everyone is there just to see you--no pub business, chatting, etc. going on).

Anyway, thanks to any and all 'Catters who came (yes Stewart, this means you! ;)). It was truly a magical evening, and one I won't soon forget. I'm just glad I made it all the way through the announcements without choking up (it was a close one). And Niamh's oh-so-thoughtful words of thanks to me at the end are going to keep me going through just about any stressful time I can imagine. :)

Cheers!

Molly
