Fractals are natures laws that mold and hold us together. marry xmas to all. donuel http://www.angelfire.com/md2/customviolins/merrychristmas.jpg |

22 Dec 05 - 01:22 PM (#1633062) Subject: RE: BS: and a very fractal X-mas to all From: GUEST,G I thought Fractals were used in aome types of computer graphics or are complicated pattern(s) in Math. The phrase "branching" comes to mind which is the opposite of "holding together". Guess I need help. |

23 Dec 05 - 08:56 AM (#1633736) Subject: RE: BS: and a very fractal X-mas to all From: Donuel a rough and innaccurate description of fractals. take the simplest equation z2=z+1 except the equals sign goes both ways. When you plot each point back and forth millions of times a shape with never ending details keeps going. The first time they were plotted by a guy named Madlebrot at IBM the picture resembled a snowman or a butterfly like bug. Although they have infinite properties they do theoreticly end. If done to completion on paper, the paper would have to reach a nearest star about 2 light years away to fit. I use many different programs to calculate fractal shapes. The most interesting to me is Xeno Dream which can plot these in 3 dimensions for 3D graphics (although I have not upgraded to that feature) Just about any fractal if enhanced with bilateral symetry is sensed as something beautiful to the mind. Every shape in the Natural Universe can be expressed in a fractal equation from snowflakes to the mighty Sequoia to the spiral arms of our galaxy. The underlining truth that fractals represent in our reality extends from shapes to the neural net of our brain and consciousness itself. or not |
