I used to be able to listen to a couple of tracks from a guy called Kendall Morse without paying any royalties, heh heh, hope he doesn't ever find out, whoever he is, or I might be in loads of trouble! cheers, Terry |

29 Jan 07 - 06:13 AM (#1951047) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,bobpat I'm sure glad to know the goverment is protecting us from such scandrels as Rose the Record Lady. She was probably a threat to National Security. All those royalities she wasn't paying to the heirs of the artist whose records she preserved was probably cause for concern, and the artist who recorded them probably wouldn't want anyone to enjoy their songs through the ages like Rose was trying to allow. Well, unfortunately Rose was looked upon as evil by someone, and I personally don't give a rat's ass for the blanket justification that she needed to pay any sort of royalities. What about the preservation of wonderful music. She should be recieving royalities for keeping the memories alive. |

31 Jan 07 - 09:14 PM (#1954133) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,Rose The Record Lady NOBODY "closed down my site".....I took the site offline in August of 2005 because I WANTED TO. Yes, someone tried to intimidate me, but at that point in time I was trying to make a new life for myself and really didn't want to have to deal with a lot of "crap", so I pulled the plug on my website. It was a good thing while it lasted, but "nothing lasts forever". Music, and the sharing of it, will last forever, and the "powers that be" need to get a "reality check". 31 Jan 07 - 10:27 PM (#1954187) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,Richard Thanks for it all, Rose; you're no doubt missed by many. It was a wonderful entertainment and education to hang out at your site. My wife and I went there one day and saw that it was closing, and watched sadly as file after file became lost. You were keeping the good stuff alive. Hope all is well with you - we speak of your site and all your work fondly. |

Most sincerest THANKS and accololades from a community of freedom.
You did well; you labored hard; your efforts were not lost.
A resource as grand as yours will resonate throughout the online community long after thee and me have bowed our last encore a century from now....eventualy, governments will recognize that the free exchange of thought is more powerful than dollars, pounds, or euros.
Sincerely, |
01 Feb 07 - 10:08 AM (#1954565) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: Arkie Rose, I would also like to thank you for your wonderful site. It brought back a lot of songs of a previous era and you even posted several songs I had requested that I had been unable to find elsewhere and had been seeking for a number of years. There are many who appreciate your work and a truly great and historic internet site. Thank you. |

02 Feb 07 - 04:58 PM (#1955989) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: Cruiser Rose: Thank you for posting what happened to your site. Your site was an innovation and many of us have fond memories of it. It provided a place to hear complete songs as confirmation of the song before purchasing it. I spent many hundreds of dollars for CDs after first listening to songs on your site before often purchasing a CD for just one song I liked out of 12-20 on the CD. The record industry benefits in the end. Rhapsody and iTunes (both of which I frequently use) make it easy now to just purchase one song for 99 cents each, BUT they do not have the old "out-of-print" songs you provided. Too bad you cannot work out royalty issues and provide your song database for a fee for downloading individual clips. Cruiser |
03 Feb 07 - 01:16 AM (#1956285) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,Art Thieme Rose, thank you. It was a grand collection of great import. I won't "lie to you and tell you that they're only robins!" As you know, "they're vultures circling high overhead"---and my love for you will never die. I'm glad you avoided 'em!! (And I never would've heard that hilarious and unique song without your site.) All the best to you, Art Thieme |
17 Feb 07 - 02:49 PM (#1970871) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,Guest,Dean I would like to add my thanks to you Rose(As I wrote to you before) you had music available that was not available any place else. You not only preserved the music but made it available to the younger generation, music that they now will probably never hear. It is just a shame that the recording industry is depriving young people of hearing some of the original work of pioneers in the music business that they, and their families would never get a cent of royalties if the recording companies collected it. A good many of them have passed on to another life. Once again we thank you Rose and wish you the best for your contribution to preserving some original music and artists who I am sure would want their music to continue on and not be lost because of the greedy recording industry. Best wishes, Dean |
28 Mar 24 - 02:29 PM (#4199932) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: GUEST,Chris Clark I had loaded several songs from Rose's site before it was closed. There is a song that I love that I don't have information on and I would love to know what it is. Some lyrics that are repeated are "I've been leavin', a little at a time." Does anyone know the name of the song, the singer, a link to lyrics? I love the melody! Thanks |

30 Mar 24 - 01:56 PM (#4200095) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: Bill D I believe I saved ALL of Rose's site before it was taken down. At some point I printed the lists of artists & songs, but I no longer have them on the computer, even though I still have the songs (in RealAudio format). The printouts are in a notebook I haven't yet unpacked from my recent move, but I'll find them 'soonish'. I'll look for the name Ryan Walters when I do. |
30 Mar 24 - 02:06 PM (#4200098) Subject: RE: Rose, the Record Lady From: Bill D The pages were similar to this: IN MEMORIAM YODELIN' SLIM CLARK 12/11/17 - 7/5/00 ****************************** I had been planning to do a special page for my friend, Yodelin' Slim Clark, in honor of his upcoming induction into the Western Music Association's Hall Of Fame, scheduled for Nov. 16, 2000 in Tuscon, AZ. Sadly, I must set up this page in his memory, instead, because to paraphrase something that his pastor said at Slim's funeral, "The name of Raymond L. "Yodelin' Slim" Clark will be added to the Cowboy Hall Of Fame in November, but on Wednesday, July 5th, he was inducted into the Heavenly Kingdom." In 1996 Slim was inducted into the Walkway Of Stars at the Hall Of Fame in Nashville, Tenn. His name can also be found on the Maine, Massachussetts and Rhode Island Country Music Hall Of Fame rosters. He entertained his fans for 70 years and has become internationally known and loved. Like so many others who have gone on, there will be no one to take his place---one of the last of the original yodelin' cowboys has come to the end of his earthly trail, but he has left the world a great treasure in the vast amount of music that he recorded over those 70 years. I have chosen some of my very favorite Yodelin' Slim Clark songs to share with you. I am proud and happy to have been able to call Slim Clark my friend. His home was just "up the road a piece" from where I lived in Maine. He was a man of great humility and he loved the simple rural life he shared with his lovely wife "Dr. Kathie" in their mountain home on St. Albans Mountain. His two children, Jewel and Wilf Clark have followed in their father's footsteps and have become country singers. Slim was also a very accomplished wildlife and landscape artist. He did beautiful work and I am the proud owner of one of his paintings. Two tribute songs that were written about Yodelin' Slim Clark will open this show---the first by his lovely daughter, Jewel,(she has picked up her Dad's talent for yodeling!), and the other by Slim's friend and Maine country music entertainer, Jackie Woodbury, who refers to himself jokingly as St. Albans' "other" yodeler!.
