I believe Stevenage Sword always go to Straw Bear (having helped found it) and Stone Monkey go a lot too. EAst Saxon Sword have been a couple of times and you'll probably find other teams such as Wype Doles (the local team). |

Yoy could say bollocks if you like! On the Sat a few rapper sides do a rapper tour of Whittlesea, criss crossing each other in the process. We (Southport Swords) do a sword tour, only this year with a bit off rapper thrown in. Rapper sides that I know are comming are Black Swan (I think), Penguin, Sallyport, Pecseaton, Stevanage, probably more. I'll be at DERT either as an observer or with Lamb& Flag. Cheers Les |

From: Zany Mouse My one abiding memory of my only trip to the Straw Bear was seeing Mick (MCP) standing in a state of shock on the Saturday morning. To say he was hungover was the understatement of the century and a hangover and the extremne cold just don't mix. He was one very white and shakey guy! Just got back from Whittlesea (after a nightmare journey getting there, we were caught in a 1 1/2 hr delay at Grantham after an accident). Our Sat evening tour started at the Bee & then we went to the Railway where we shared the pub with an Irish session. We ended up staying there all evening because we are made so welcome. Sallyport went into the Bee as we left & stayed there all eve. I dont know about anyone else. Next gig Liverpool Beer Festival. Cheers Les |

From: Emma B Got held up by a bad accident on the A1 too (closed in both directions and no diversions indicated) and nearly got smashed by a frustrated lorry driver who objected to my slowing down to try and find a right turn which would head me back in the right direction - he was driving too close to even see my indicator! The (relatively) warm weather brought out the crowds but it was sad to see The George boarded up - spent Saturday night in The Boat in the song session ably hosted by Derek and Mary with a "guest" performance by the Landlord. Some great dancing outside and INSIDE the Bricklayers! Thanks to everyone |
