Tech: Thread begiinings

I've noticed recently that many threads are missing some messages from their beginnings.

Why and where can we find the missing messages?

Some threads are missing their initial posts because of a crash that took place some months back. The 'cat was down for a while, and when it resurrected, many posts were jumbled. You might go by the date of the postings if the initial post is important to your reading of a given thread, Bert.

Pardon me, I meant to say the time AND the date.

The United States Library of Congress (free) "Wayback Machine" may have been lucky enough to "take a snap-shot" on a day when the complete thread you desire existed.

ALWAYS - Back Up! - It is not a question of IF....but rather when your own machine will crash.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

As Joe O has pointed out, for those threads where it is just jumbled order, clicking on the "Printer Friendly" at the bottom of the top (header) bar gets the listing in proper order.

I haven't found any threads with missing posts, they're just out of order.

For some reason it seems that on the scrambled ones, in normal view, the first post usually shows up about 5 posts down. It's easy to identify, since the "RE:" doesn't appear on it. After that, it gets messy to sort them by eyeball.

I did note around midday yesterday that the member photos no longer gave double servings. Perhaps some progress has occured?
