08 Jan 06 - 08:07 PM (#1644545) Subject: "Puff' night open stage From: GUEST,The Hull Municipal Folk Ensemble Residents of Hull and environs! We'll be hosting an open stage on next Thursday night where people can do their performance interpretation of the famous folk standard "Puff The Magic Dragon". Participants are encouraged to bring their own unique approach and style to bear, rather than slavishly imitating the original recording. This is not a karaoke contest! We have heard "Puff" done by trios, duos, singles, quartets, quintets, sextets, and even a 35-person orchestra. A neuftet has not happened yet, but the Goole9 Folk Revival is rumoured to show up, so it may happen. The important thing is, give the song the respect it deserves and make sure that you do not deviate too far from the folk traditions out of which it sprang. It is recommended to arrive at 6 pm or earlier in order to book a spot. The show will go on from 7 pm till midnight or whenever it ends. No live chickens are to be used in the performance, please. Be there at Randy Jean's in central Hull next Thursday! |
