A vocal groupcalled the Young American used to perform "Danel Boone" as part of their stage show...ad recorded it on a Xapitol Record label if I remember correctly...it' an easysong to sing but as it has been years since I ast ang it I am not able torecall all thelyrcs off the top of my head. The refrain is: Dane Bone wa a man...was a big man...what a Boone! What a doer! Whata dream come atruer was he!It is circa the end of the New Christy Minstrels around 1975...itha a an easy melody ,nice beat, and one of those songs you hear once and can ing for the rest of your life. The added bonus being it is recorded very nicely and would be easy for kids to sing along with.Te director of the group was Milto Anderson..based here in LA, so you might try to search for aChoral director listing that might be able to contact him directly and get you sheet msic.If I stumble acros my old recordng I'll tryto copy the compsoers name etc down and forward it to you.Hope that gives you atleast a start.I remember the album cover as them wearing red shirts or jumpers andwhite sweaters and pants.I hope that hes.CRAIG

found a midi for the Daniel Boone Theme song here:

http://hyperion.advanced.org/16020/data/eng/text/midi/tv.html

but haven't been able to find the lyrics anywhere. The composer's web site does not have a link to lyrics, so I suspect they are difficult if not impossible to find in the electronic media.

So here are some of the lyrics as I recall them:

Daniel Boone was a man, yes a big man
with an eye like an eagle
and as tall as a mountain was he.

From the 'coon skin cap at the top of old Dan,
To the heel of his rawhide shoe,
The rippin'est, roarin'est, fightin'est man
The frontier ever knew!

does that stir up anyone else's memory?

There's a verse in the mountain piece, "Cumberland Gap" (Boone followed the existing trail there but clarified it.)

Cumberland Gap, Cumberland Gap, Way down yonder in Cumberland Gap. Daniel Boone on Pinnacle Rock, He killed Injuns with his old flintlock.
