That's all I can remember of it. It sounded like it might have been a music hall song . Can anyone provide any other words? |
12 Jan 06 - 12:34 AM (#1646808) Subject: RE: Lyr Req :Nicolas Nicolas From: Jim Dixon The catalog of the University of Mississippi Library lists a recording of NICHOLAS (DON'T BE SO RIDICULOUS) by The Three Flames on a 78rpm record, Columbia 37268. The Online Discographical Project says it was recorded in 1947. traditionalmusic.co.uk gives the title as OH NICHOLAS DON'T BE SO RIDICULOUS and says it was written by Jimmy Kennedy and Harry Castling in 1939. |

Don't Be So Ridiculous, which seems to be the song the originator was asking for (all the way back in '06). (I'm not certain I've got the first two lines absolutely correct). Mick OH NICHOLAS! DON'T BE SO RIDICULOUS (Kennedy, Castling) A great misunderstanding, enough to make you sob, Nicholas was working but underneath his job. He's saw his girl by day He'd kiss her and she'd say Oh, Nicholas, don't be so ridiculous, Cos I don't like it in the day time. Oh, Nicholas, though I like you, Nicholas, I don't like kisses in the day time. Afternoon or evening that's too soon; Nighttime's the right time, under a lovely moon. Oh, Nicholas, don't be so ridiculous, Cos I don't like it in the day time. You said going dancing would be heaven, And I agreed to meet you at eleven. I couldn't do the samba while I'm yawning. I didn't mean eleven in the morning. No! Oh, Nicholas, don't be so ridiculous, Cos I don't like it in the day time. Oh, Nicholas, though I like you, Nicholas, I don't like kisses in the day time. Things you have to wait for seem so right - Let's make a date for seven o'clock tonight. Oh-oh, Nicholas, don't be so ridiculous, Cos I don't like it in the day time. Oh, Nicholas, don't be so ridiculous, Cos I don't like it in the day time. Oh, Nicholas, though I like you, Nicholas, I don't like kisses in the day time. Weddings in a day dress make me sob; If I should say yes, make it an evening job. Oh, Nicholas, isn't it ridiculous, That I don't like it in the day time. (Don't Be So Ridiculous) which was recorded by Tommy Trinder in 1938 and Billy Cotton in the 1950s." I think that book is by JJ Kennedy. Anyway, there are about 10 sentences cogent to this thread. |

("&" separates parameters in links.) Similarly, for YouTube links, best just to include just the "v" parameter; omit the "feature" parameter and any others that happen to get dragged along as well. |
