In another thread, Warsaw Ed said he had sequenced a midi file for this, so I thought we ought to have the words.

Transcribed from the sheet music at The Library of Congress American Memory Collection:

THE KAZOO BAND
"Komic Song with Kazoo Korus
Karefully Komposed, Kompiled, and Korrected by
Thos. P. Westendorf" 1884.

1. No doubt you've heard of the great Kazoo.
'Tis a kind of a comical toy
That came from the clime of the Kangaroo
To be blown by a beautiful boy;
And now 'tis played on the hill and heath
Through the length and the breadth of the land,
So close your eyes, yes, and hold your teeth
While you listen to the Kazoo band.

KAZOO KORUS.*
Air. Tootle too tootle too tootle tootle tootle too.
Altos. Too too tootle too.
Tenors. Too too.
Bass. Oo oo oo.
Don't you year it ringing through the land?
Air. Tootle too tootle too tootle tootle tootle too.
Alto. Too too tootle too.
Tenors. Too too tootle too.
Bass. Oo oo oo oo oo.
'Tis the music of the Kazoo band.

*If you kant get a Kazoo use a komb.

2. The Cornet bows to the great Kazoo,
And the Clarinet cackles a while.
The Bass gives a grunt and a howdy-do,
So they join in a musical smile;
But they admit when they hear it played
That its tone is most wonderful grand,
And crawl away to the quiet shade
While they listen to the Kazoo band.

3. Now that you've heard of the great Kazoo,
And been charmed by its wonderful noise,
I hope that you'll go and you'll get one too,
To be in with the rest of the boys.
If not, my friend, you'll be left, I fear,
And alone in the crowd you will stand.
The whole wide world in the coming year
Will be tooting in the Kazoo band.

Since when did the kazoo come "from the clime of the Kangaroo"?
