From: Chris Amos Hi, I will be in Stavanger for the week starting the 23rd of January, I have looked up past threads on the 'cat but they are quite old. Are there any catters in the town and where are there any sessions or clubs, particularly ones featuring traditional Norwegian music. Chris |

From: GUEST,Philippa see the Stavanger folk club website also there's an Irish pub in the centre which I understand hosts sessions and there was an old thread here about the a ceilidh at the Stavanger Rugby Club (you say you looked up the old threads so you probably saw that*) ... the Norwegian traditional music can be harder to find if you don't have the contacts, though there are some good Norwegian folk festivals with emphasis on local music. *relevant old mudcat threads include Stavanger A Stavanger B Stavanger C |

19 Jan 06 - 09:06 PM (#1651857) Subject: RE: Any catters in Stavanger? From: Teribus Not much Norwegian Traditional music around, for that I believe you have to be over in Telemark as opposed to Rogaland (where Stavanger is located). Lovely place though. If you are around for it, on the 31st January John Renbourne is playing at the Stavanger Folk Club. If you are there from the 23rd January, there is live music at "The Irishman" on the 26th (Thursday night 21:30hrs to 00:30hrs on 27th) and on Saturday the 28th (15:00hrs to 18:00hrs). Hope you enjoy your visit |

From: Chris Amos Thanks for all the information, with the cat being down & me being busy I didn't get to see it until late last night. I have a contact number from the folk club site and will report my findings upon my return. Chris |

Is there a new web site for the Viseklubb or a new venue for folks types? Figured I might be able to pick up a Norwegian sea chantey and leave a few behind too ... BTW do the locals speak Bokmal or Nynorsk? Skal ! Brian |
