Aided immeasurably by the excellent studio bands backing him at the Stax Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, and The Fame Studio in Muscle Shoals Alabama, Pickett scored a series of R&B and pop hits on Atlantic Records between 1963 and 1972 that included "In the Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," and "Funky Broadway."' |

19 Jan 06 - 05:58 PM (#1651680) Subject: RE: Obit: Wilson Pickett From: Azizi There are soul singers with "it" in every generation. They must be out there, but I can't name names because I haven't been keeping up with the genre. That said, Wilson Pickett's musical styling was uniquely his own. And his music will live on. Thank you Mr. Pickett for so many great songs! |
