I was thinking of the Shores of Lough Bran or My Own Dear Galway Bay. I was going to Bríd Óg Ní Mhaille but I have never seen someone singing an irish song get out of the county |

05 Feb 06 - 04:07 PM (#1662317) Subject: RE: Chosing a song From: GUEST Senior Scor is a competition in Ireland where over 18's take part in. The competitions include clubs from areas within counties, if you win you represent your county and go through to the provincial finals, and so on until the All Ireland final. Categories include, figure dancing, solo singing, instrumental, ballad group, question time, recitation novelty act and set dancing Judging is very dodgy in these competitions, usually judges cant understand the song in Irish and therefore dont put you through. I was also recommended My own dear Galway Bay |

05 Feb 06 - 06:58 PM (#1662442) Subject: RE: Chosing a song From: MartinRyan Which county are you in?! "My Own Dear..", the Francis Fahy song, has taken a fair ould hammering in recent years - but is a fine song nonetheless. It has the advantage that it can be taken at a fair pace - as against the slow, lugubrious rate at which many people feel obliged to sing in competitions of this type. In the end, you need to pick a song that you feel very comfortable singing - one that you feel you can sing "from the inside" rather than as though it's a set exercise designed to show off your (no doubt excellent) singing style. Regards. |
