for those who don't know, a podcast is essentially a free internet radio programme, which you can download and listen to at your leisure - if you subscribe to it (through - say iTunes) you will automatically recieve every new episode. There are many really good folk podcasts, but specifically, you should try these guys out, they broadcast from edinburgh (scotland)

www.gardensessions.co.uk

they do an hour long podcast every 2 weeks which you can download from their website, i wish it was more often though, because the music is amazing - it's all new artists as well - plus extremely entertaining chat (which unusually, there's not ENOUGH of). fingers crossed they'll change it to weekly someday because it's unbelievably good!!

it's probably worth pointing out (as i didn't know this till recently) that you don't need an ipod to listen to podcasts, just a computer.

Don't forget Radio Britfolk!

Since the demise of BBC GMR 'Sounds of Folk', Ali and I now record two programmes per month for Radio Britfolk, and programme 3 goes online on Monday June 19th. We still call it 'Sounds of Folk' with Oysterband's 'Blackwaterside' as our signature tune.

More information can be found at the Sounds of Folk website.
