BS: New TV Trends in Crimefighting

Watched a show last night called "NUMB3RS". They solve crimes with math. (Shouldn't this be an after-school program on PBS?)

A few years ago there were a lot of shows with psychologists and profilers, looking for serial killers and other criminals; Cracker (the British one) was the best of these.... So Psychology was sexy!

Then the crop of CSI-type shows, solving crimes with with their advanced chemistry and mass spectrometers and tight-shirted, big boobed blonde model/lab-workers... And lab-work was sexy!

Now this show. A couple of child prodigy mathematics and statistics nerds helps the FBI solve and prevent crimes... So now mathematics is sexy!

What's next?

* The CIA has a secret group of young and beautiful surfing/snow-boarding English professors slaving away at parsing sentences and checking spelling and verb tense to expose secret terrorist cells working towards the next 9/11?... Grammar is sexy!

* A radical play-by-their-own-rules group of young bikini-clad librarians who are also part-time models solve cold case files from years ago by checking into old records of borrowed library books?... The Dewey Decimal System is sexy!

* Or a handful of misfit students in the chess club and A/V club at a small midwestern highschool compine their talents to uncover radical religious anti-government sects controlled by the extra-terrestrial Anti-Christ by checking through discarded video tapes and transcipts of famous chess games between Russian and western masters?... Nerdiness is sexy!

But hey, I'm not complaining. At least it's a show that somebody's actually written, produced and acted in to tell an actual story, unlike the crop of "reality" shows and pop-singing contests with unnecessarily cruel critiquing currently littering the dial.

How about a group who under the guise of morris dancing can get to overhear conversations in pubs, which lead to the evidence needed to convict major criminals.....
......Propping up the bar is sexy!

Quack!
GtD.

I think a show about an itinerant tennis player and his Afro-American trainer who are undercover spies would be just the ticket! I'd watched.

An unlikely group of lunatic fringe conspiracy theorists, bookstore moles, cocktail party bullshitters, and frustrated artists search through textbooks and gallery leaflets to find the blood descendents of Jesus of Nazareth.

Art History is sexy!

But Cluin, that one is already a "reality" show...

Cluin, what makes you think that the librarian bit isn't already going on? After all, haven't you heard the "Librarians do it in the stacks" and that you can "get it at the library?"

That's just the propoganda you librarians have put forth, Rap.

That's while the women in porno flicks are dressed as librarians with thick-rimmed glasses. All that passion held in check, waiting to burst forth, backed by esoteric knowledge gleaned from secret sex instruction manuals from the orient, kept under-the-counter away from the kids.

An itinerant singer/guitarist tours the country, performing in out-of-the-way venues, while keeping an eye out for fugitive criminals so he can capture them and collect the bounty to make ends meet and keep him in guitar strings and picks.

Folk music is sexy!

(Whoops! I've gone too far)

Yes, you have--you've tried to draw the attention away from those steamy librarians!

Oh, if you only KNEW!
