07 Feb 06 - 08:05 AM (#1663692) Subject: Portaferry 2006: The Reports From: mooman Well I enjoyed it immensely. Plenty of music but not quite as wall-to-wall Irish as in previous years (maybe due to the lack of a dominant lead instrument). However, on the upside, this left a lot more time for chatting with old and new friends. The weather was kind, dry if a bit overcast. I will leave others to tell of Giok's unfortunate dilemma on Saturday (naughty Emma)! Here are a few photos from my rather simple and low powered camera. I'm sure the expert photographers will post up much better ones. Peace moo |

13 Feb 06 - 06:09 PM (#1667619) Subject: RE: Portaferry 2006: The Reports From: Maryrrf Hello everybody, I'm back, finally, after spending an awful lot of time in Gander, Nova Scotia (where our plane was diverted) and in Newark airport along with thousands of other weary travellers who were caught up in the snowstorm that hit the New York/New Jersey area. I enjoyed Loughstock so much - I've been looking at the pictures and reliving it. Fine music (lots of songs, which I like) and convivial company, oh and also great food. That was some dinner Khatt and Sheila prepared complete with Yorkshire pudding (first time I'd had it) and homemade apple pie with custard. Thanks to all for making a lone American feel welcome. The rest of my vacation in Scotland was lovely too and I was sorry to leave. I did some driving and touring in the Borders and Northern England (visited Durham and was awed by the Cathedral and the medieval architecture of the old part of the city) but my rental car broke down in Penrith and I had to get AA to take me back to Glasgow. Still I enjoyed the vacation and got a hefty discount from the car rental company as an apology, so it all worked out. I can't believe it's over and I have to go to work tomorrow. I have to start planning the next trip soon so I'll have something to look forward to. |
