Chord Req: Cohen's Hallelujah

Sorry if this is in the DT -- I can't find it tho. I'm trying to figure out the chord that fits over line "it goes like this, the fourth the fifth" Anyone?

I'm playing:

C Am
They say that there's a secret chord
C Am
David found and it pleased the Lord
F C
But you don't really care for music do you?

C Am
It goes like this: the fourth the fifth
F Am
The minor fall the major lift
F
The battle king composing: hellelujah!

etc. Thanks

There are several versions of the song at www.chordie.com. They aren't in the sane key as yours, but you could transpose them.

This may help as well . . .

Now I've (G)heard there was a (Em)secret chord that (G)David played, and it (Em)pleased the Lord
But (C)you don't really (D)care for music, (G)do ya? (D)
It (G)goes like this: the (C)fourth, the (D)fifth, the (Em)minor fall, the (C)major lift
The (D)baffled king com-(Bm)posing Halle-(Em)lujah

Halle-(C)lujah                                 Halle-(Em)lujah
Halle-(C)lujah                                 Halle-(G)(D)lu-(G)jah (D)

Thanks Jeremiah. Starting in G is just the wrong side north or south of my natural voice range. I'd either have to have genes implanted from Barry White, or get a pair of tighter undies.

or I could use a capo? ... hmmmm

Well, in C it would be Am-minor fall, Fmaj major lift-but Jeremiah's got it nailed in G. Transposing it to C is pretty easy.

Jeremiah's C chord for the 'major lift' sounds better as a D. I might have 'adapted' the tune though. I'm singin' an A note, and it's in the D chord but doesn't sound right with the G in the C chord...or something.

Transposing is a valuable skill:
(Snuck my change in in italics. Otherwise, it would be an F)

Now I've (C)heard there was a (Am)secret chord that (C)David played, and it (Am)pleased the Lord
But (F)you don't really (G)care for music, (C)do ya? (G)
It (C)goes like this: the (F)fourth, the (G)fifth, the (Am)minor fall, the (G)major lift
The (G)baffled king com-(Em)posing Halle-(Am)lujah

Halle-(F)lujah                              Halle-(Am)lujah
Halle-(F)lujah                              Halle-(C)(G)lu-(C)jah (G)

And just so I don't sound too snooty, I can transpose, but I have to use my fingers and I can't play worth a moldy fig. Jeremiah's playing is worth a whole truckload of figs...at least.
