11 Feb 06 - 01:18 PM (#1666833) Subject: BS: Gals - want to join in a sock exchange? From: open mike Hello. If any of you mud gals wouel like to participate in this, I can include you. It is a chain letter. You send one pair of funky socks, and send 6 letters to others and you receive 36 pairs of socks if everyone keeps the chain going. So if any of you have lots of socks, or would like to, p.m. me with your mailing address! Laurel (who is sending socks with forest and bear designs on them) |

" Don't inhale if they go on fire ma dear:)!! I would gladly join in but in all honesty no-one would be even vaguely amused to receive a pair of my well worn Winter in the Barn woollen socks..no one. They are so bad even I don't want them anymore. Your just going to have to trust me on this one please! Jude ps what would I do with 36 pairs of Socks, funky or not!!:) |

11 Feb 06 - 11:47 PM (#1666937) Subject: RE: BS: Gals - want to join in a sock exchange? From: open mike if you have a pair of sox you want to send you can join in...and i can send you an address to send them to, but you also need to send out 6 letters to others asking them to join in...and it was originated to be a trade for women's socks, and you are supposed to get lost of pairs of them, and most likely they would be women's sox. so i would not recommend being a part of this unless you want lots of women's socks. The original intent was that women would get (and give) the socks. I do not even want to think about what men would want with 36 pairs of women's socks...don't even go there! and i think they assume you will send CLEAN ones-- the funky part is in the design or color or style.. but thanks any way liz! |

I mean I could send out 6 letters and all but truthfully I only wear working socks... due terrain and Animals and Boots ect. I shed the damn things every oppertunity I get and never wear lightweight ones. I do however wish you all the best with the venture:) Jude |

13 Feb 06 - 04:13 PM (#1667511) Subject: RE: BS: Gals - want to join in a sock exchange? From: Bat Goddess It sounds like fun and I've just located a source for some wonderful socks with lobsters or moose on them, but I've never had any sort of luck with chain letter type things I've participated in. The most I ever got was a lonely dollar bill once. I never got any of the recipes or other things I sent out. So I'll give it a miss -- unless someone is interested in a direct exchange . . . Linn |

14 Feb 06 - 10:46 AM (#1668171) Subject: RE: BS: Gals - want to join in a sock exchange? From: open mike that brings to mind a book i once read about how to live in the woods..i think it was by Colonel Townsend Wheeler (how do i remember that?) and how does the word spelled Colonel get pronounced kernal?? (no "R"?) any way he suggested getting tube socks.. long ones..and lwhen the heel wore out you were to turn them around--and then again until the origianal two heel holes were onl your ankles...then when all 4 holes were made, you could cut them off and start the cycle all over again... that way the socks might last as long as some of the microwave ovens in the other thread... |
