I am currently compiling English International which is a 3CD compilation of top English Concertina players from around the World.
I would like to include some Australian Music and I would be grateful of any names that could be recommended to me for me to contact.
If you could send the info on a personal message I would appreciate it.
Many thanks
Al

Just off the top of my head (but without any addresses)
John Sutherland (Wellington)
John Ridout (Hawke's Bay)
Nigel Champion (Auckland)
Greg Whitcombe (Auckland)
I'll look for more.
Robyn (who has a Lachenal but never mastered the thing!)

Danny Spooner plays one well, but usually only as accompaniment.

I always thought that Danny Spooner was English - though he has lived in Oz for a while.

Danny has lived in Oz for many years...I believe he is a citizen?....does being born in England disqualify him?

Bill D defintely not, but I would like some Oz music or Kiwi or both.
Where the players come from does not matter, but they have to be of a reasonable standard. The music can be accompanied but the concertina must be slightly dominant. We will be looking for new recordings from artists but I will discuss this when I make contact.
Any old archive recordings of English system players would definitely be of interest.
I Googled the names mentioned, but no information was available

Danny Spooner has several MP3s on his site, tho I dunno if they have concertina accompaniment. He will be toiring the UK later this year Dave Brannagan has posted here in the past as a guest (Branno), specially on the 60's Oz albums thread. I don't have his email address, but can contact him thru a friend if you want.

Bob Bolton is on holidays & no doubt would have lots of contacts, but he is out of email contact in the wilds of Tasmania for about a month.

Being shockingly ignorant I dunno what type/s of concertina my good friend Bob plays! but I do know that Bush Music Club, of which Bob is Editor & Vice Pres & I'm Secretary) is full of traditional concertina players.
