Ohek Skiffle any mudcat opinions

Anyone been to the wonderfully named "Ohek" site (www.ohek.co.uk)
I found it to be somewhat low key yet strangely attractive.
Any other opinions? Recollections?

Good one, Foxx !! I'll be keeping an eye on this site in case Skiffle breaks out in or near Darlington.
PS RTS RTS Are you receiving me (or are you in Greece) ?

Is that train a copy of the one on the famous Leadbelly/Golden Gate LP of prison songs? It looks familiar, but I havent got a copy to check. A homage to the legendary Leadbelly would seem to be the right thing for a skiffle group to do.

Can't say about the train.Agree about the appropriateness of a Leadbelly homage though.
Also,I love the typography of this site.(Any other Font Freaks out there, or is that one just me?)
The Skiffle boom was drawing its dying breath by the time I got around to being born but I believe that brief period when Jazz,Folk & Rock 'n' Roll fans found common ground and many kids decided to start producing music instead of merely consuming it has enriched the musical history of the last half century.
After all these were the people who brought us The Quarrymen.
(Am I allowed to acknowledge I still love the group they became or is that the ultimate Mudcat Taboo?)

Err, is that the Roman word for keeping stuff the same?

Quarrymen is an archaic Lancastrian term meaning "They who will ultimately become bigger than cheeses."
Taboo is a Geordie term meaning "Scarey cigarette."

Thanks for pointing us to this site. I recognise some of the text from earlier sites which they've just cut 'n' pasted. The link to the Skiffle society is bogus, that site died some time ago.
Not in Greece yet, Charlie, got trips to Birmingham,Somerset & Edinburgh first (what it is to be retired!).

Oh, and the link to a UK supplier of Voss washboards- that guy Derek on Freeserve never replied to any e-mails 3-4 years ago, it was his site that was listed as the National Skiffle Society which is now defunct and seemed to be a publicity site for the Lonnigans comedy skiffle group (often featuring Doc Cox ex-"That's Life" and also performing as Ivor Biggun -don't ask!!!).

For German fans try this site:http://www.skiffle.net/histo.htm
or our own Lutz Eikelmann, (http://www.lutz-eikelmann.de/)or, if you are Japanese, this one:http://www.disc-file.com/jug.htm

Thanks Roger I recall Doc Cox doing a Skiffle item on "That,s Life"
which looked very much like a free plug for his extramural activities.
I always maintain that i'll "get a life" when someone convinces me that it's better than what I've got already.
Sounds to me like this applies to you as well.
