BS: $7 Billion Heist - best of the decade

here is a story that will fly under the radar of our "free" press.

Sure there have been bigger thefts with disappearing money at the Pentagon and in Iraq and the 9 billion that Halliburton can't find but the theft made public yesterday is one of the smoothest I have ever seen.

It was first reported that government made a mistake but that was the beauty of it.

The long standing law that oil companies have to pay a royalty to the Federal Government on leases when a certain profit margin is exceeded SIMPLY disappeared.

In other words the law was clevery deleted as to not effect the page numbers when it went to the Government Printing Office.

Hats off to this white out bandit. The simplicity and stealth exceeds the latest trend of inserting protections to corporations and eliminating consumer rights at 3 AM before the bill is voted on at 9 AM. Ten years ago Congressman Dick Army started this trend. Even though he confessed the ethics commitee ignored this practice and let the "inserts" stand. Inserts continue to this day.

So now we have "untraceable" deletions that help the poor struggling oil companies to the tune of $7 billion lost from the budget.

Absolutely brilliant

Maybe the Supreme COurt could borrow a page from the oil companies and save a lot of time dilluting the First Ammendment by simply deleting it in one quick stroke.
