BS:included or separate?

I always enjoy Mudcat with the threads all together, I prefer the mix. But I know a lot of folk choose the segregated version, with music above the line and BS below. What is your personal preference?

Not only am I a separatist, but I've turned my monitor upside down so the BS appears on the top. Of course, it's also upside down, reads from right to left, and the posts are in reverse chronological order.

There's two of us that do that, then.

Separate. That way I don't have to wade through the boring music stuff to get to the interesting parts.

I view it like a songfest in someone's home. Usually what happens as the evening moves along is that while the main activity of the evening, singing, takes place in the living room, some folks drift off from time to time to the kitchen to grab another beer or check on the condition of the clam-dip, and get involved in often non-musical conversations. Politics, joke-telling sessions (sometimes the two are indistinguishable), attempted seductions (those can be pretty funny, too), and other, standard, non-musical party stuff. If the activity in the kitchen ever gets rowdy enough to disturb what's going on in the living room, someone just gets up, sticks their head through the door, and yells, "HEY! KNOCK IT OFF OUT HERE!"

Works pretty well most places.

Well, I remember when they seperated them and was against it at the time but, hey, persoanlly, I like it this way better...

Separate. At least we are more of a community above the line and can share what we all love which is music.

Below the line though I have seen some real true colors and they aren't always that pretty. It's not always that good of a neighborhood to take a walk in.

I have them mixed together. I open threads according to how the title appeals to me, and contribute if I think I can, regardless of prefix. The only prefix I pay attention to is 'Tech' - I always read 'Tech' threads.

Incidentally, does anybody read evry single thread?

Like the rest above, I look at threads that interest me.

I like them separated. I admit I mostly read the BS ones but I imagine the people who mostly read the music ones appreciate not having to wade through the non-music. I don't find it inconvenient to scroll down.

I'm with Rapaire, and I love the rather mad BSs, like the current Dull thread.

It's great to have them separated. Below the line you know no topic and virtually no language is off limits. There's all sorts of humor and the discussion may go careening way off. Then if you want to learn something about a musical topic, they're always waiting there above the line. So it depends on how the mood strikes.   Either way you you know what you're getting. Truth in advertising.

Separate. Below the line is where you get to know each other personally - and from my perspective that is overwhelmingly positive. Upstairs is sweet and informative and helpful, sometimes downright bacon-saving; below it is contentious and life affirming, cynical and fun loving, grief provoking and out loud laughter, disgusting and admirable, rude and exquisitely sensitive- we go the gamut.

I like them separate but I find that I don't read the music titles much anymore and I rather miss them. But my faves were Aine's song challenges and those aren't happening anymore, alas. I only get to check in here once in a while and when I do, I go to the BS stuff first.

I always scan the music threads section first, but haven't often found much of interest there in a while, sadly. Then I end up in the BS section, where things aren't much more interesting, but at least I don't feel the need to take it seriously.

Separate - the BS threads tend to get refreshed much more often beause lf the nature of the discussions, so if they are mixed you are likely to have to scroll down a bit to get to the music stuff. Separate you can get to them quickly and see which ones are ongoing, and it's just a click to get down to the BS.

If there weren't so many threads I'd prefer mixed, but there are.

I'd be against any further separation though. And I like it when BS threads turn musical, and vice versa.

I think the BS threads should be separated from the music ones. When I first joined they were all together and there was constant complaining about it from those who felt there should be no BS threads at all.
