I wonder if someone could tell me at what time in the UK we would have heard of the death of President Kennedy? I don't know at what time it happened over there, but what would the time have been by Greenwich mean time please? Was it our morning, afternoon or evening?

Kennedy was shot at 12:30 PM Central Standard Time. In Montreal, two time zones YOUR way, I heard about it at about 3:00 PM (I was in high school writing a history test). There are five hours difference between Montreal and the UK. Therefore, you may have heard about it at about about 8:00 PM.

I thought CST was 6 hours behind GMT which would have made it about 6.30pm. I'm not completely certain though

All I can remember is that they announced it in the early evening. I remember Mum saying "He's sure to go to heaven!" they suspended normal TV programs for a while afterwards, but the next one on was the Harry Worth show, which seemed utterly inappropriate even to an 11 year old.
