She said the song had several parts (counterpoint). I did some searching but can't find it on the net. Can anyone help me find it? I need both words and music. |

It helps to know when the song was played, the date, as they number each progam and thats what they go by. |
07 Mar 06 - 05:13 PM (#1687681) Subject: RE: duct tape song on Click and Clack From: Barbara I have a transcription of it someplace -- if it's a round, and starts "Duct tape, duct tape, oh where is my duct tape? my something is leaking, my window is cracked My poor heart is broken, I'll mend it with duct tape Mend it with duct tape until you come back." Is that it? If so, it was written by somebody in Alaska, Juneau I think, as I have it on a tape from the Alaska Folk Festival. I can go look it up if you want. Blessings, Barbara |

07 Mar 06 - 09:07 PM (#1687910) Subject: Lyr Add: DUCT TAPE MADRIGAL IN C MAJOR (Nathanson) From: Alaska Mike The song is called Duct Tape Madrigal in C Major. It was written by my good buddy Lou Nathanson and recorded on his CD "Genetically Enhanced". There are three voices singing three distinct parts. Lou sings the tenor part, another friend named Robin Hopper sings the soprano part and mine is the deep bass-baritone voice on the third part. The lyrics are as follows: Duct Tape Madrigal in C Major by Lou Nathanson (Tenor) Duct tape, duct tape oh where is my duct tape, My old boat is leaking, my window is cracked, My poor heart is broken, I'll fix it with duct tape, Fix it with duct tape until you come back. (Bass-baritone) Duct tape its better than glue, Fixes stuff just like new, Be prepared throughout your life Keep a roll beneath your pillow at night. (Soprano) Scotch tape and masking tape and electrical tape. I have tried every single color, each variety and every shape, But only duct tape can bind you to me, Oh where is my duct tape oh where can it be. It was a lot of fun recording this CD with Lou as well as performing this song at festivals and shows for many years. Once in awhile we still manage to do a live performance for appriciative fans. 08 Mar 06 - 09:56 PM (#1688764) Subject: RE: duct tape song on Click and Clack From: Alaska Mike I was reminded to add, that towards the end, all three verses are sung simultaneously and the melodies of each verse are slightly different so that there is a very interesting blend of chords and counterpoint throughout. It really is a brilliantly written song. Mike |

He links to Elderly Instruments, but I can't find any CD by Lou on their site. I've sent Lou an e-mail about this. Thanks for giving me the link to Lou's site and for typing out the lyrics above. |
