Citizen Kane 2: Electric Boogaloo

Was at a party in 1967 (?). It was New Year. There was a movie on--an old space film about some guys who went to another planet and had to fight giant spiders. It took about 30 minutes before we all found out that the voices had been overdubbed and new words written for the actors. It stuck home when a giant spider jumped on one of the spacemen and he called out, "Come quick, fellows, I've caught one."

Here's my own variation on the game.

I give you the plot; you give me the movie title.

1. In a bleak futuristic society, a party operative writes desperate letters to a bookshop in London.

2. A computer goes berserk and sends a spaceship full of dogs to a fur factory.

My ex and I one sunday had fun choosing film and other titles and substituting 'hedge' for a significant word in the title.

I remember 12 Angry Hedges, Above Us the Hedge,A Hedge too Far.

"In a bleak futuristic society, a party operative writes desperate letters to a bookshop in London."

I got the 84 Charing Cross Road reference (three of my favorite actors:   Anne Bancroft, Anthony Hopkins, and Judi Dench) right away, but being something of a science fiction fan, I've seen a fair number of movies about bleak, futuristic societies and I was thinking more along the lines of the "Mad Max" trilogy. I did see 1984 with Edmond O'Brien on late night television umpteen years ago, but the book was so much more impressive that I've never thought of it in terms of a movie. Suddenly, of course, it becomes obvious!
