Walt Koken/Orpheus Supertones/web radio

Hello, All,

Walt Koken and the Orpheus Supertones are scheduled to play live on my KFOK-LPFM radio show, Pride of the Mountains, on Monday March 13. The show runs from 10:00 a.m. to noon California time. I'm not yet sure if they will play all or part of that time slot. Also, this is weather permitting, because they are doing a house concert south of here the night before, and we're having snowstorms. So if they can't drive here, I guess it will be called off. Anyway, it might turn out to be a great listen, and we broadcast on the web.

Go to www.kfok.org, and click on the green play button. You might have to fuss with settings a bit for this to work, so I advise you to do a trial run ahead of time. I'll repost as I know more.

Al Lubanes,
Georgetown, CA

Oops, forgot to mention that the Supertones are composed of Walt Koken, Clare Milliner, Pete Peterson, and Kellie Allen. They have a great new CD out titled "When the roses bloom in Dixieland" which is available at www.mudthumper.com

After checking the KFOK site every half hour, I'm giving up. Anyone else get any success getting any signal at all online?

Al-- I hope you record(ed) their appearance and that you'll play it again sometime. If you do, please give us specifics so we can plan conveniently.

I just found out our DSL service went offline for some reason. So sorry. I did record it and will play it again. I'll repost to let you know when. It was a fabulous show.

I'll be re-broadcasting the Orpheus Supertones' appearance on my show Monday, April 3, 2006 sometime between 11:00 a.m. and noon California time. It was a great live show, but the DSL line was down, so it didn't go on the net. It's working fine now so you should be able to listen to the recording if you want to.

And if any 'catters in the UK want to see these guys live, they'll be starring in next year's Gainsborough Old Time Festival in February.

I don't know about the rest of the group, but Walt Koken is something else! on banjo.   I heard him at Maryland Banjo Academy (of fond memory) in I think it was 1999. If you get a chance to see/hear him, do so, by all means!

Uncle Dave, Pete Peterson is our own Mudcatter Pete Peterson. Kellie is his lady love. They've stayed with us.... We had to screw the roof back down tight after they left. They sang with us at church, too, and blew everyone away.

In other words-- a force to be reckoned with. So I'd advise-- pull a chair up tight for this show, but fasten it down real good and rope yourself fast.

I'll probably start the Supertones re-broadcast a few minutes after 10:00 California time. Let me know if you were able to tune in.

Yup, a two hour show. The first hour was the Supertones. The rest was CDs from my collection. Glad you got to hear it.
