12 Mar 06 - 09:46 AM (#1691193) Subject: happy? - Mar 12 (The 'Diamond' sailed) From: Abby Sale 3/12/1812: According to Grieg, the Aberdeen Journal reported that the Diamond sailed for the Davis Strait (between Greenland and Canada)
The Diamond sailed out of Aberdeen from 1812 to 1819 when she was lost in the ice (no crew losses.) According to Ronnie Cairns writing on the Jock Duncan CD, she just stayed out too long in the season, wanting more catch and got caught and crushed in the pack ice. Capt. Gibbon was only on board the one year, 1812. Copyright © 2005, Abby Sale - all rights reserved What are Happy's all about? See Clicky |
