Jelly art captivates

March 10, 2006

A Japanese girl gazes at artificial jellyfish swimming in a fish tank, produced by Osaka based interior design company Sphere at an interior art exhibition in Tokyo last Friday.

The jellyfish is made of medical prastic and contains colorful fluorescence illuminator glowing under black light.

The minimum set of jellyfish interior art, one jellyfish and fish tank including water pump, blacklight and glass beads is priced at 29,400 yen ($A339).

Yes, they have a canine robot. It barks, sits up, rolls over, and can be taken for walks, but it neither eats nor eliminates. Only in Japan.

From that page I found an interesting article about eBay:

ebayersthatsuck.com. I wonder if you can buy prastic jellyfish via eBay?

LH -

I hear they've discontinued that Robo dog, and also the Robo dinosaur that replaced it.

The hot item now is the self-propelled computor-controlled vacuum cleaner. So many people have "hacked" it, that the maker is now providing a "port" on new models so you can connect it to your laptop, and is giving "free guts" to university robotics classes so they can experiment without having to build the drive and steering systems.

It's "Engrish," the fractured way that some Asian speakers can't pronounce the "l" in English. But it usually isn't seen in print.

The form may be new, but I agree, the concept has been around for as long as trash has been pumped into our rivers and dumped off of barges into the sea.
