DMcF York FC solo gig NOT solo!

This, just notification of last minute change, really.
Information....

Duncan McFarlane's gig at York Folk Club
(The Black Swan, Peasholme Green) on Thurs 16th March
had already been altered to a 'duo' gig in that
fiddler Anne Brivonese from the DMcF band was to appear also.

Now, Geoff Taylor from the band will join them too, on cittern (mostly).

Cheers - Duncan

Shucks - that means yer van'll be full if I get snowed in and need to beg a lift over to York!
(I'll bring the drumkit too just in case shall I?)
It promises to be a great night...

Oh and Andy, dinna ye forget yon kilt - it's the weather for it, to be sure!

Hi MM - no, no drumkit needed!
Strictly acoustic gig this one.
No possibility of a lift for you 'going' either -
No car!
One extra reason Geoff is now playing is cause I too need a lift over after my car smash of last week!
(minor injuries to Pam; car a write-off; me, unhurt! - no guitars were injured in the making of this drama!)

(Fiddle)Anne has a 'Parents Evening' early doors and will wing it over later on and, as there'll be two cars coming back, there is a lift 'back' available.

Geoff (with cittern) has done a 'duo thing' on my last two 'solo' gigs (Leigh-on-Sea and Roberttown) and that's worked out really well. So, as Anne is used to playing the duo-thing with me, it'll prove reet interestin' how we edit the arrangements as a trio, on the fly, this time!
Promises to be a good 'un!
Cheers - Duncan

Is that the fly on the wall, Dunc?!

Pity I'll not be there - sounds interesting!. Let us know how it pans out.

Sorry to hear about the car, hope Pam's minor injuries soon heal. Please say hello to her for me and give her my best wishes.

Deirdre

Car not important. You & Pam are the most important thing. Thank goodness you both came out of it reasonably OK

Napoleon: Il-y-a quelque chose a dire, mon brave?...
Alors, ca ne fait rien, mon oncle - a bientot au cygne noir, Andy!

Have posted to this 3 times now and it's kicked out on each occasion.

I think the Cat is still having problems!.

Keep trying, Denise - it seems to be back "on" OK now (there were Cat problems earlier today I know).

What I had tried to say (3 times) was that I'd applied the Translate feature to MM's earlier post:

Napoleon: It -there-A something has to say, my brave man?...
Then, Ca does not do anything, my uncle - has soon with the black swan, Andy!

Definitely loses something in the translation!

Still, as HFA will still be in Yorkshire for the gig, he should at least understand what the locals are saying!

Have a good one.

Denise

Mebbe it was text and translation like that,
and not them 'Warlike Lads of Russia' that
'Made Bonaparte to run and leave his troops behind.'

The only Napoleon about the place will be in my Hipflask of course!
Hic!
Written off car + lift over to York from Sue & Geoff + full gig mode = good night for HFA
Cheers - Duncan

Denise - let me put you out of your misery...
The French bit on the post was made up of a cult reference and a cliche or two, and would indeed expect to lose summat in translation.
Basically, the "il-y-a" is a bad pun, a corruption of Illya (Kuryakin), who you'll remember was Napoleon Solo's sidekick on the Man From UNCLE TV show (played by David McCallum - do I hear swoons offstage?!). Then "is there (do you have) something to say, my brave man?... Oh well, no matter, my uncle (=sly reference to Jacques Tati movie) - (see you) soon at the Black Swan (=the York gig venue), Andy"! Got it now then?
Will you be at the gig Denise???

And Andy, tell Napoleon to turn the Bones-aparte!

See ya tonight the noo,
MM

It was only a bit of fun MM!
Didn't mean for it to become an issue of Bedlam, Boys!.

But I confess I didn't get the Tati reference.

Unfortunately, not able to get to York tonight, too many miles away for mid week.

Enjoy.

Bit of fun it was, sure! Taken in due spirit (not brandy).

Just refreshing the thread now:
Enjoy we certainly will, with the Swan's usual welcoming ambience (and sloping floors... hic! lay off that hip-flask Andy!)
