14 Mar 06 - 10:37 AM (#1693169) Subject: The Chieftains Radio Special From: WFDU - Ron Olesko This Sunday morning at 7am ET, WFDU-FM will present The Chieftain's Radio Special, a one hour documentary hosted by Susan McKeown featuring inteviews with various members of the Chieftains, past and present. The program also features interviews with Celtic music writer/historian Don Meade and musical guests Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs. This special program will air in place of my Celtic-themed program The Sunday Session, heard weekly from 7 to 8am on Sunday mornings. WFDU can be heard in the NYC metro area over 89.1FM or listen in on the internet through our website at www.wfdu.fm. |

14 Mar 06 - 11:20 AM (#1693223) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: Peter K (Fionn) Perfect timing for me in the UK, but I hope there's some music as well as chat. |
14 Mar 06 - 11:24 AM (#1693229) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Yes, there is music! As for the time, I wish we were on a later hour but it was the only time slot available for my celtic show. The Chieftains special seemed like a natural fit for my program time slot. There are programs that can record internet streams, sort of like a VCR, but honestly I am not that familiar with them. |

14 Mar 06 - 07:44 PM (#1693833) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: cyder_drinker Look up iRadio from 3a labs - I use it all the time, you can set scheduled timers to record particular shows. As long as the station you want is broadcasting in streaming mp3, that is. Costs a coupla bucks, but I found it reliable and worth the money. |

15 Mar 06 - 12:46 PM (#1694158) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: Pauline L Ron, I'm not an early riser. Will this program be archived and accessible through the Internet at some other (more civilized) time? |
15 Mar 06 - 01:11 PM (#1694178) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: ard mhacha Fair play to you Ron, I have just tuned in to WFDU and I see you have had the cream of traditional musicians on your programme. I will tune in on Sunday 12 noon is perfect for Ireland. |
15 Mar 06 - 01:16 PM (#1694184) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Thank you Arc Mhacha. I am very proud of the artists that we play on WFDU. I hope you enjoy the special. Just to clarify, the Chieftains Special was not produced by WFDU. This program was produced by a producer who has created similar specials for non-commercial radio stations. They have produced some very interesting programs on Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash which have also been aired on WFDU. The Chieftains special is one of their best and I am honored to present it. Unfortunately, due to a variety of legal issues, we are unable to archive our shows. |

18 Mar 06 - 09:45 AM (#1696893) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Sorry Kaleea, I do wish we were on at a "decent" hour for people here in the U.S. I am very intrigued by the iRadio that Cyder Drinker mentioned above, not just for my show, but for all the gems that are available on the internet. There are many shows that are not able to archive and are only available as a live stream. I am going to check it out! (For the record - I have no connection with that company or any company offering such software!) |
18 Mar 06 - 04:09 PM (#1697134) Subject: RE: The Chieftains Radio Special From: michaelr Heard the program this morning. Interesting comments from Paddy Moloney and the other lads, and a fair bit of music. Van Morrison singing "Shenandoah" is different... "Way way way way way way way way you rolling river..." Cheers, Michael |
