I use my computer at work to run a program for The World Community Grid. I see Google is promoting a feature called Google Compute which does something similar. All these seem like worthy causes. |

These introductory programs are just designed to lull you into a false sense of 'feelie-touchie-goodness' so that when the CIA wants to take over all your PCs, most of the hard work of getting people to trust and run these programs on their PCs has already been done! They just wouldn't share the cpu properly, no matter what value I niced them to. If your machine starts to freeze up, try turning it off. My problem is likely to be too much multi-tasking, though. |
