Lyr Req: Baptise The Bear - Song Snippet

At the Wayne Henderson/Herb Key concert last night, Herb sang a
country tune that ended with the punch line about Preacher
"Baptising the Bear".

The basic storyline was about a Preacher climbing a tree to avoid
the critter. A dialogue with his Maker about sparing the preacher's
life. A broken limb, a fight with the bear (using a razor) and a
wrestling match that ends in the river. And what a way to "Baptise
the Bear".

OK Mudcat....take it away.

This is best known as "The Preacher and the Bear."

It has also devolved into a joke about an Evangelist, a Catholic Priest and a Rabbi attempting to convert various bears in the wild.

I think, in so perilous a situation as that, I might have happened on a way to baptize the bear without leaving the tree.
