Just spotted a programme listed on BBC FOUR (digital) on Friday 24 March (2006) at 9p.m. (plus usual repeats) - Looking for truth with a pin - a tribute to Ivor Cutler.
Might be interesting to watch.
Decided to give it a thread.
Quack!

Just a reminder (for those in the U.K.) this is on in a little over 30 minutes time.

I found the programme both entertaining and informative.

Why has noone else commented on it? I thought it would be a popular topic for discussion. Or is Ivor Cutler not held in great esteem by most Mudcatters?

I too enjoyed it, but could have done with less Connolly, McCartney et al, and more of the man himself.
Giok

For "melodeonboy" 's information, most of us commented when the programme was originally shown a year ago: Ivor Cutler BBC4 UK.

I missed the concert they showed at the time, mind, much to my annoyance. Please do tell us if you spot a re-broadcast coming up...

Thanks, Malcolm. I only returned to the U.K. last August so I've obviously missed a lot. I noticed that the programme was a 2005 production so I thought it might have been shown before.

GUEST Thanks for the heads up re the R4 prog. Have just had a listen, very good!
Malcolm, I think we will be lucky if BBC4 repeat the extracts from Ivors last concert. That they repeated the doc was amazing enough!
Luckily, I did manage to video the concert as well. Don't have the facilities to copy it at the moment. but, maybe....

Best Wishes Ralph.

GUEST was me without my biscuit.
There were some nice uninterrupted snippets of Ivor's readings, which was nice to hear.
I found it by chance driving home after dropping eldest daughter somewhere.
Quack!
Geoff.

Geoff.

I should have realised 'twas you!
Considering his almost wilful self imposed obscurity, I find it gratifying that the Beeb has paid so many fulsome tributes to Mr Cutler.
Regards Ralph.

Final Quote.

Driving while listening to Ivor Cutler can be very dangerous- I unthinkingly lent a tape to a friend over from the USA who had hired a car. Apparently she put the tape on just as she reached the M1/ M18 junction, in heavy traffic. She's recovered enough to speak to me now.
