27 Mar 06 - 09:45 PM (#1704263) Subject: Review: Gospel Messenger's CD From: Bobert Well, for any Catter who passed up an opportunity to recieve a copy of Jerry Rassmussen's gospel group's latest CD, "Without That Night", see Little Hawk's thread below the line entitled "Biggest historical loser" and enter... This CD is refrshingly nastalgic with arrangements that anyone who remembers fins on the back of cars and 15 cent hamburgers can only love... No make that LOVE and speaking of "love", the basis of each and every song is our Lord... Like how could very good music get any better??? I remember a year or two ago reading that Joe Evans was having some medical problems and to hear him hear on "Without That Night" you'd think he was at his prime... Might of fact, all these guys sound like they are in their prime... But, hey, they apparently are all a bunch of late bloomers... And, of the material!!! What a splendid mix of traditional gospel stuff with some of Jerry's fine song writin'... The title cut "Without that Night" is as fine a gospel song asd has ever been written... Okay, you say, "Hey, I'm not into that kinda music..." Don't matter, just sit back, put the headphones on and just listen to Jerry's fine guitar work and tghe wonmderfull blending of voices of folks who certainly know one another very well... This is a must have Gospel Messenger CD... Congrates Jerry, Joe, Derrick and Frank... You all done good... Real good!!!! Thanks.... |

The Three Cabaleros.. It's been fun that they've all come out about the same time. Joe's doing fine these days... had carpal tunnel surgery, but is getting the feeling back in his hand. I hope I'm as good a shape as he is when I get to be 82... Jerry |

I'm waiting a bit to let things calm some here so I can properly listen to it without dumb distractions muddying my concentrating on it. I couldn't be happier for you guys. Love, Art |

These are for guys, who are totally committed to what they do and you get an album of joyful, committed, yet disciplined singing. It's a quality act. |
