Fantastic. As luck would have it I'm up from Gloucester on my boat for the Easter period and this is perfect timing - what a treat. Well done STPs!!! I'll email you to reserve some tickets.

What's this about it being his only appearance in Middlewich though? Isn't he normally appearing with you chaps during the Boat Festival weekend? Please tell me it's not true.

I've heard that nasty rumour, not been booked for the festival. What a shame!!!!

Andy, what engine do you have in your boat???

Josher, it's a bloody big one! It has to be the speed I can get from Gloucester to Middlewich in ;-)

Actually, if you're reallly interested, about 2 years ago I fitted an Isuzu Marine engine - the IM 4LC38 to be precise. I'd been recommended the IM 4LB33 by a friend at Wharf house narrowboats but wanted that little bit more bhp. I'd never had a marine engine in any of my boats before but now I'd recommend it to anyone.

Anyway, look at us threadnapping the STP's Les Barker Message! Will you be at the LB gig? If so we can talk more about boats over a pint!

Hi Andy
Fraid not as myself and my Butty (the lovely Jen) will be in Portugal. I am devastated to miss the wonderful Les and thought he would be at Middlewich Festival as usual. Is this an oversight by the committee and can it be rectified I ask myself.

Hi Andy and Josher,

Sadly it's not possible for Les to be at M-FAB this year; He's in the Isle of Wight over that particular weekend.

It seems most fortuitous, therefore, that Salt Town Promotions/Live & Local Events decided to book him for Good Friday (April 14th) - this being the first in a series of STP/L&L events for 2006 (others feature old favourites Bernard Wrigley, Stanley Accrington and His Worship & The Pig (at Christmas).

We're glad we've been able to step into the breach and give Middlewich its annual 'Les Fix'.

Thanks for your interest.

Andy and Josher,

It would be great if you could spread the word among the boating fraternity. As you know we get a lot of water-borne visitors in Middlewich and they're always looking for something to entertain them. But tell them all not to hang around. Ticket sales are already brisk (as you'd expect with a Les Barker gig) and we'd hate anyone to miss out.
As for the festival this year, we're disappointed ourselves that we won't be working with Les over that weekend, as we have done for the last few years. I believe he is booked for 2007 but why wait for a year? Book now to see Les in April!

Thanks Josher,

Will do. I've had a private e-mail from Caroline in Maidstone. She says she may be coming up with Andy for the Les concert. It'll be nice to see her again, even if she does have that insane dog with her!

Dave, Just in case she doesn't know, Caroline can see Les at "Up The Creek" comedy club, with "Capella" as backing act this Monday.

Les is doing a gig for BCAB, all proceeds to help fund IT 4 ALL, a project to get more blind and partially sighted people internet connected.

The gig coincides with the official launch of the project. Tickets £10 at the door.

Only 300 seats, so come early.

Gide Cats CDs available for anyone who hasn't yet bought them.

Thanks Don,

I'll pass that on, in case Caroline doesn't pick it up from here. Hope you all have a great time. Then again, how could you not, with Les on the bill?

Can someone take him a bottle of orange squash for me please? Give him my love and a squeak.

Mention my name and he'll go all pale and trembly.. I think it's love, but it could be downright panic.

Liz,

We'll gladly do all that for you.

Just catching up on things as I've just been on holiday for a week; a necessary precaution before a Les Barker gig.

Don't forget folks, this is you ONLY chance to see Les in Middlewich this year. For the first time in years he's not booked for the Folk & Boat Festival.

So ring our Box Office on 01606 833404 and/or look at our website at www.salttownpoets.co.uk. There are still a few tickets left.

Well, many thanks to Les and to everyone concerned for a superb evening last night (Friday 14th).

Liz, I passed your message on but, regrettably, forgot to get the orange squash. No matter, Les was liberally supplied with the orange stuff throughout the evening and was his usual brilliant self.

Salt Town Promotions/Live & Local Events have a series of events at the Boar's Head in Middlewich throughout 2006, and the next one features Stanley Accrington on May 19th.

Details will be on our website at www.salttownpoets.co.uk shortly.

Thanks once again to Les and everyone else for a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable night. Or, as Les would put it:
