From: open mike hello darkness my old friend i've come to talk with you again.. and the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls.. wow this song is still conjuring up images in my brain..i think i will re-learn it!! by Simon and Garfunkle.... Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left it's seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, 'neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of A neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one deared Disturb the sound of silence. Fools said i,you do not know Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you, Take my arms that I might reach you. But my words like silent raindrops fell, And echoed In the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made. And the sign flashed out it's warning, In the words that it was forming. And the signs said, the words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls. And whisper'd in the sounds of silence. |

02 Apr 06 - 11:27 AM (#1708796) Subject: RE: BS: The word is.... From: Bee-dubya-ell I agree, Sandra. "Yo!" is infinitely superior to "Hey!" "Hey!" is diffuse and scattershot. If you shout "Hey!" at someone in a crowd, everyone will turn around as if to ask, "Who, me?" But "Yo!" is concentrated and can be aimed at a specific person. If you shout "Yo!" at someone in a crowd, it goes straight to the targeted person while everyone else ignores it. |

I used a theodolite on occaision with the 864th Engineers in Nam. The same rainy monsoon out-of-work day we figured him out we also figured out that Popsicles was the Greek God of Winter and Testicles was the Greek God of Fertility, Barnacles was an assistant to Posiedon and a bunch more I don't remember at the moment. Nothing like a good war flashback to brighten the day. OK, how about Ionopause-The zone of transition between the ionosphere and the exosphere. |
