BS: V: Humankind's Last Stand

I've just watched "V: Humankind's Last Stand" - a mini-series from the 80s
I enjoyed it very much but I'm not sure if there was a follow-up. The mini-series ended abruptly and it's not clear from my Web surfs if there was a 2nd series. I know there was a seequel called "V: the final battle" but this did not(?) involve the original director, and was regarded as poor.

Was there a follow up? Also, the DVD I had was double-sided but seemed to have the same material on both sides??!!

Enlightenment please!

V was actually turned into a television series, though short-lived, and is available in its entirety on DVD. At least here in the states...not sure where you're from. I purchased it on Amazon

As to the double-sided disk with the same content, you might check to see whether it is the same content in two different formats, wide-screen and full screen. I not infrequently run into that. I like the choice, because I abominate the wide-screen presentation and prefer the full screen image.

Of course if you have one of those big wide-screen TVs, your attitude might be quite different.

Holy 80's nosatalgia. :) I remember that.

When both "V" mini's debuted, there wasn't a person I knew who wasn't glued to their TV watching it from start to finish. By the time the regular series came out, the bloom was kinda off the rose...

(In retrospect, all they kinda did was take the concept introduced in the classic Twilight Zone ep' "To Serve Man", and run with it.)

Right you are Fionn
The made for TV movie was a pretty good "OMG-Lizards-From-Space=Are= Coming-To-Eat-Us-And-Steal-Our-Planet" kinda flick. I also really liked the minimalist theme music*, the acting was pretty good, and the effects were better than most films of the era.
When it went into regular production, the scripts rapidly became pretty stuuuupid.
But the actresses were hot,the explosions were loud, and the gross stuff was gross. I think that the network believed that's all it took. Or maybe the crap was thrown at the series because the decision makers thought that science fiction HAD to be brainless nonsense.
Too bad. It had everything that it needed to be a superior show, but quickly slid past mediocracy into dumbass.
The great truth here is that bad science and bad fiction makes for bad science fiction.
When it ended, I was happy to see the plug pulled.
Damned Lizards!

* See how I cleverly turned this into a music thread?
