Happy Birthday!

NYC: Tom Lehrer

was born 4/9/1928

He quit performing, saying, "Political satire became redundant the day Henry Kissenger won the nobel Peace Prize." [thanx snoopy1]

In Lehrer's 1953 idionymous 10-inch record, he describes his occupation as a relatively unsuccessful purveyor of optional pharmaceuticals to local school children. To supplement it, he would roll the occasional drunk.

          When the shades of night are falling,
          Comes a fellow everyone knows.

          Spreading joy wherever he goes.
          Every evening you will find him,
          Around our neighborhood.

Princeton NJ: Paul Robeson was born 4/9/1898 (also born Apr 19 and Nov 9) died 1/23/1976 – only heard him live once – boy! I wish I could sing like that!
