Here in the US we have "Yankee Magazine" in which one may post a query about their "roots." At least one used to be able to; I haven't seen one lately. Anyway, the amount of places to look for genealogy stuff relating to Nova Scotia, online, is overwhelming. I have searched and searched without much luck, for my great-greatgrandmother, Hannah (Gordon)Crawford. All I have to go on is just her name and that she married my gggranddad, William Crawford. Unfortunately, my ggranddad's death certificate doesn't say where she or William were born except "Canada." My question for you is, is there one wide-reaching publication in which one might post such a query, either for pay or free? I plan to keep looking, regardless, but I'd really like to connect with some people there who might be into the same kind of research and know of more resources or even run into a distant cousins. (From the looks of the phone listings there are plenty of Gordons and Crawfords!) I have posted there in the past and searched through a lot of the available databases. As I don't even have a county for her, I really was hoping for a publication in which I could place an advertisement. Short of that, I have found a "Gordon H. Crawford" whom I may write to to see if he has any info. I have a lot of internet resources bookmarked and check them periodically, plus full membership at ancestry.com. Sorry, I probably should have said that in my initial posting. All the same, I will look that site over some more, as I know new things are added all of the time. Thank you! kat |

One of my Dreams is to take a trip up there sometime and really "dig in." I hope to be able to do that in a few years when Rog and his work slow down a bit. Looks as though I will have to ask one of the librarians, which I will gladly do, as I couldn't find any of their sources actually online. Thank you for the recommendation. Between the site Sandy sent me to and the Library one, I should get somewhere! Just surf to CBC Radio, Atlantic. They will have a schedule on their site for the show. Terry is very knowledgeable about Nova Scotian genealogy. I also sent you a pm with a personal reference you can try. |
