BS: Billiards? play digital!

Billiards...or pool.
A simple little game you can play in a very short time. Waste time! Challenge yourself! Knock the little balls about at random. All you do is click where you want the cue ball to hit..... I guess if there's any 'goal', it's to aim for getting all ten red balls in 10 shots...not real easy! Doing it in under 'par' would be VERY good.

*hint* it's easier if you enlarge the page a number of times (and even F-11 for full page display)...but leave at least a bit of the yellow border to click in....when your cursor is in the game area, it will only shoot the cue-- you must click outside the game area in order to reduce size or F-11 back to regular view again.

Have fun....don't get lost..

Bacteria are also known as microbes and we sometimes refer to them as germs. We mostly think germs are bad but there are good and bad bacteria. In our world today we have ways to kill the bad bacteria but sometimes we kill the good bacteria at the same time.

Some Background on Bacteria

**Bacteria were some of the earliest life on earth.

**Bacteria are single cell micro-organisms.

**Some bacteria are capable of movement while others are not.

**Bacteria can withstand great temperature differences.

**Bacteria are grouped by shape and also by the cell wall type.

**Bacteria are found everywhere and in everything. A spoonful of topsoil has over ONE BILLION bacteria and a square centimeter of skin has an average of 100,000.

**Bacteria can feed on a lot of different and odd food sources. Some eat soil while others eat sulfur. Some get their food through photosynthesis. The bacteria living in your intestines helps to complete digestion.

The Project Experiment

Do we sometimes destroy good bacteria along with the bad?

***Apple Cider and Apple Juice are both apple drinks but apple juice is highly processed so it will last a long time, which is good.
***Apple Cider has almost no processing and does not last very long.
***A bacteria known as "Acetobacter" is required to make vinegar from the juice of apples, which is a good thing too.

Is Acetobacter present in both apple juice and apple cider?

I got apple cider and apple juice and divided it into cups. We observed by sight and smell any changes on a daily basis. My Dad and I both watched the cups and agreed on what we saw and smelled. My chart and the samples both show that even after almost a month, the apple juice had very little change and did not have any vinegar smell at all. The cider had a strong vinegar smell. This shows that the good bacteria called Acetobacter was killed along with the bad bacteria when the apple juice was processed.

Why Is This Important?

In the news lately there are stories of people taking antibiotics to destroy harmful bacteria from wounds or being sick. Antibiotics destroy many of the good bacteria in the intestines and this allows a a harmful bacteria to gain strength and cause a different sickness. The bacteria is called "C-Diff" and it causes damage to the intestines and sometimes even death.

Many Doctors are suggesting that we use too many antibiotics. As we do good, we also do bad. It is not always a good trade.

hey...that was a neat science report. Now I know why dipping my skinned nose in apple cider is better than in just rubbing it with rotten apples.

Got any more useful info?

oh, by the way

studs & chains? Black? *grin*....mercy! (Mine still dresses in 90% black with leather and often a chain belt at age 23! *grin*...but he uses it just for effect and is a pretty tame kid in many ways.

The teen years are...ummm...'interesting'. Hormones and video games are a funny mix.

well.......................I guess, since you are SUCH an honest bloke, I have to believe you!

(You have a PC? You don't have MWSnap?... *tsk*..)

habit forming, ain't it? you can do 40 rounds in a short time, and I guess you are beginning to see the patterns. It is a digital game, so a 'precise' placement, to the pixel, of a shot will give precise results.

Middle ball with the point of the cursor almost exactly in the middle. You will sink a ball in the lower side pocket. If not, do it again! If it's perfecly done you will leave a ball very close and directly in front of the uppere left corner pocket, 45 degrees from the pocket. Move the cursor to the shiny spot on the far right lower ball.....you'll sink that 45 degree ball and have another shot set up........

you have some restriction against javascript in place, I guess, *daylia*....you should see a table with 10 red balls.

(that 1st shot needs to be a 'teeny' bit above center....and there are other, more complex ways to get a good start. This is a simple game, so control of speed and English are not possible.)

I have another game where you actually play 8-ball against the computer, WITH English & power control...I'll see if I can find it again...(my copy is downloaded to my PC)

ok...if you want a challenge, try this game (you can even put the game in a folder on YOUR computer....I have it open as a secondary window almost all the time)

This game is strange...after awhile you'll swear the computer has a personality. You can use English, but it can't, so it gets a couple other advantages....but it can't seem to aim the yellow 1 ball, and the 'call' pocket' for the 8 ball changes to suit the computer, whereas you have to shoot for lower left most of the time.

Still, it plays 'almost' realistically in many respects...
