Do not volunteer to steward at this festival as you do not get any freebies.

will lead you to more info. Can someone do me a clicky please?

There's usually a small sing in the bar or outside if it's fine.
Mike Lease usually leads a tune session (Celtic) in the yard both afternoons.

If you want further information, here is a press release which I generated which has gone out to all the South Wales media (and 'Ennessy - Frank's Celtic 'Eartbeat reely issa dogz bollox...

DANCERS IN STEP WITH REAL ALE FOR A PERFECT WEEKEND

Dancers from all over Wales and England, plus teams from Belgium and Denmark and international musicians, will drink a toast with quality Welsh real ale when the Tredegar House Folk Festival kicks off for its 17th year.

The Newport festival, from Friday May 12, 2006 until Sunday May 14, 2006, takes place in the beautiful and stunning settings of Tredegar House, 17th Century home of the Morgan family – and the festival will join forces with Newport CAMRA, the Campaign For Real Ale, for a tempting tour guide which displays the beers and ciders of Wales.

CAMRA are taking beer fans on a magical mystery tour involving some Cardiff and South Wales real ales, including Brains (Dark and Reverend James), Breconshire (Golden Valley and Rambler's Ruin), Bullmastiff (Gold), Otley (OBB), Wye Valley (Butty Bach, HPA and OG Wholesome Stout) and Rhymney Brewery (Premium Lager).

Tredegar House Folk Festival chairman Steve Lake said: "This is a traditional family summer festival tied in to traditional Welsh refreshment and enjoyment. It couldn't be any better."

Spectacular Belgian dancers De Kegelaar, from Antwerp, and Danish team Taarnby-Kvadrillen are paying their first visit to the festival, along with Seven Stars, Boojum Ladies Rapper and Ryburn Long Sword, a specially-combined Gwerinwyr Gwent and Dawnswyr Glanllwyd and many other teams.

There's an added bonus in the Folk Club Concert Nights in the Morgan Room – Quicksilver (the amazing voice of Hilary Spencer in duo with BBC's That's Life songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Grant Baynham) will be playing on Saturday, May 13. Master player Chris Moreton, from Usk, shows his impressive skills on guitar and banjo at a Folk Night (Friday May 12), and for the first time the concert will echo late into Sunday night when ragtime, blues and virtuoso guitarist Eddie Walker plays to an entertaining close (May 14.) Eos and Catherine Handley and Huw Chidgey are the support artists.

There are ceilidhs on both nights – Newport regulars Band Dai Bach (Friday) and the ever-popular South Wales band Juice, with Dave Parsons calling (Saturday). The public will be kept enthralled by parades, all-day dance displays, impromptu and exciting music sessions and a special hour-long spot by Bandemonium – 30 community musicians from all over Herefordshire, led by visionary fiddle player Rob Strawson.

Access to the Tredegar House grounds, the music and sessions and the dance displays are free. Entrance to the Friday night ceilidh is £5, the Friday Folk Night £4, the Friday night ceilidh £5, the Saturday night ceilidh £7, the Saturday concert £8 and the Sunday night concert £5. And if that's confusing, why not pre-book tickets? For the first time this year, a weekend ticket allowing access to all concerts and ceilidhs - and providing free camping - is available for £25.

If you'd like to pre-book tickets, please send a stamped addressed envelope with a cheque payable to Tredegar House Folk Festival to Colin Sage at 41 High Cross Drive, Newport NP10 9AB.

Quality Welsh beers do count, and Tredegar House hasn't been the best. Shades of Newport Council not understanding real ale. However, I will definitly be going.

You've dragged the Tredegar House committee kicking and screaming into the 1970s. Well done, that man!
