BMI 3:44 Loyal Jones' biography of Bascom Lamar Lunsford ("Minstrel of the Appalachians" University Press of Kentucky; 2002) has a huge amount of info on Bascon's recordings for the Library of Congress et al. The Southern Folklife Collection at the Wilson Library, UNC Chapel Hill, has more resources than you could ever use. I think the curator's name is Michael Jones, and if I'm wrong I apologise to him. He is a very helpful man. |

I believe the Northern Neck Chantey Singers & the Manhanden Shanteymen both still have CD's available of the singing as they did when they fished off the Carolina coasts & I believe both groups of fishermen are still performing. There's also songs from the prison work farms but I believe you said that was not one of your interests. Barry |
