14 May 06 - 09:14 AM (#1740461) Subject: BS: Guess who? From: kendall This from the book HEAVENS TO BETSY; a collection of well known sayings. To Harp On One String. To repeat one thing endlessly, to dwell on one theme at great length. To tell the same tale over and over again. If a harpist were to play her instrument upon one note, the monotony would drive her nuts if some unwilling lestener had not already killed her. Sound like anyone we know? |

From: The Shambles I tend to repeat a pithy sayings, Roger repeats long winded, convoluted ramblings year after year and he thinks it's the same thing? I am a truly terrible person I know and really do deserved to be made our forum's scape goat and be bullied. But I do not however start threads about my fellow posters, or hold public conversations about them and I try very hard not to post any personal judgements about them or respond in kind to the many I am subjected to. But if things don't get better - they tend to get worse and if a suggestion was once the solution - it probably always will be.... |

15 May 06 - 12:17 PM (#1740988) Subject: RE: BS: Guess who? From: freda underhill To Harp On One String. "To repeat one thing endlessly, to dwell on one theme at great length. To tell the same tale over and over again. If a harpist were to play her instrument upon one note, the monotony would drive her nuts if some unwilling lestener had not already killed her." That comment does not attack any person - but it does point out some behaviour which drenches this site. I started a thread recently on the need to win. Again, it wasn't targeted at a particular person - there were a few of us being highly focussed about winning arguments, to the point of making negative comments about other catters. In an open forum, destructive behaviour, whether its obsessive repetition, victimhood or nagging, effects the site. Comments on behaviour, ideas, methods of communication are constructive - anyone can think about. freda |

15 May 06 - 12:34 PM (#1740997) Subject: RE: BS: Guess who? From: The Shambles Sound like anyone we know? Our forum has become been encouraged to become obsessed with making personal judgements of each other or of ganging-up to make judgments of certain easy targets (bullying). All this is pointless and counter-productive as all that ever matters is what we say. If how it is said by others is thought a problem - then learn to live with it, ingore it or post elsewhere. |
