From: BeesWing Heard this song only once ... perhaps in 1969 or 1970- female artist singing of the courting of a girl named Janet. The only lyrics I now recall are ..."he has made her the queen of the land that she will ride in one summers day" and " May I please marry your daughter Janet?" Would greatly appreciate help with title and rest of song.Thanks. |

It's on his solo album Gaughan on Topic (still available as a CD). I haven't looked at the lyrics in DT, but the version he sings (with excellent guitar accompaniment)has some typical Scots dialect that can be hard to understand. |

On the same album is Darcy Faro, Lilly of the West, Crooked Jack Captain Kidd. etc. There is a minimum of instrumentation and what is there is very tatseful.
