Yes, I know it's too long, but "What's The Scoop" has already been suggested. And, "Cold Nut Sundaes" is childish. And, a pic of a flat-bottom cone with a scoop of strawberry ice cream and the caption "Lick This" is bound to offend. Overall, I like Amos's suggestion. And, I hate myself for being so silly. |

Because the vast majority of similar business ventures wind up going belly up after a year or two. Then they wind up in bankruptcy court trying to get a judge to allow them to pay off their creditors at 10% of face invoice value. Judges don't like "cute". They like "business". |

18 May 06 - 11:06 AM (#1743181) Subject: RE: BS: need names for an Ice Cream Parlour From: GUEST,crazy little woman It's not just judges that like a business-like name. Customers do too. When a person passes a shop, she ought to be able to tell what kind of business it is. The name also ought to be easy to find in the phone book. (That leaves out most cute spellings and foreign words.) I have a very successful ice cream shop in my neighborhood. It's called "Murray's Ice Cream." ---------- This comment is not related to the ice cream shop, but here's a dumb thing people do in naming businesses: use initials, such as "W.J. McBride's Bar and Grill." Everyone then calls it "McBride's," and nobody can find it in the phone book because it's under W. |

07 Jul 06 - 08:52 PM (#1778617) Subject: RE: BS: need names for an Ice Cream Parlour From: Alice Scoop was the first word that came to mind when I read the thread title. Short and sweet. Whatever you choose, DON'T spell it in an odd way or use foreign words people can't pronounce. I have seen many people (in my yellow pages advertising job) kill their business by spelling the name in a way people can't look up in the phone book. Getting cute with kountry instead of country made Kountry Flowers look like it was out of business when people didn't find it in the phone book under Country Flowers. Sure enough, it went out of business. |
