BS: Steen's syrup has been Marmited.

I just bought a can of Steen's syrup.

It used to be thick and full of flavor like Fowler's treacle but this can was a load of crap. It was watered down and tasteless.

Is Steen's Maple syrup, Bert - or don't we want to know what it's made of?

Marmite Sucks, and loves its Mother - rather too much

but if you like that......

Personally I like Fowlers Treacle (TREACLE is BLACK, Golden Syrup is........ not)

It is thick black molasses - or it used to be.

And I'm not insulting Marmite , I love the stuff but I hear that it has been watered down recently.

I found a cluster of jars of the old recipe marmite in my local corner shop, so I have a supply to last me a while. I don't know what the cut-off date is, but these are 'best before end of October '06'.

I've been lucky enough to have never tasted marmite. To me, marmite is a kind of insulated container used to bring hot or cold food to troops in the field.

It sounds like something that has six legs and eats wood.

Marmite is what Asterix's druid friend brews up the magic potion in. He's called Panoramix in French- in the English version it's just a cauldron, and he's called Getafix.
