22 May 06 - 05:00 AM (#1745243) Subject: Glaisdale Sunday From: GUEST,Raggytash Nick & Christine are proud to present the 6th Annual Glaisdale Sunday, Ta rah !!! The train leaves Whitby at 12:43 on Sunday 20th August (first Sunday of Whitby Folk Weeek)arriving at Glaisdale at 13:07 for an afternoon of fun and frolics at the Arncliffe Arms and hopefully we will be able to raise a few bob for the runswick Bay Rescue Boat along the way. Train songs on the way out please, I've learnt Folson Prison Blues expressly for the outward journey ! We have spoken to the licensee of the Arncliffe Arms and she is most welcoming of another session. We will have the use of the upstairs room as we did last year, the downstairs room having now been converted into a rather fine restaurant (although a touch of the pricy side) bar meals will be still be available. Hopefully one or two of the crew and committee of the Rescue Boat will be able to join us, we might even presuade then to sing ! The return train leaves Glaisdale at 16.30 arriving in Whitby at 16:58 where Ossenflags and I will just be finishing "Leaving Nancy" as we nudge the buffers. So bring your instruments and your voices and lets have another brilliant afternoon Cheers Raggytash |

02 Jun 06 - 09:13 AM (#1751642) Subject: RE: Glaisdale Sunday From: GUEST,Raggytash Hi Marie Good to hear from you and wonderful to know that the afternoon is enjoyed by all. The menu in your new restaurant is wonderful as is the "bar food" As you know this will be the third year we have visited the Arncliffe Arms and each time the welcome has been fabulous. For many people "Glaisdale Sunday" is the highlight of the week both in terms of the train journey there and back and the ambiance of the afternoon itself, thanks in large part to the good people at the Arnclife. I should recommend the new Cafe Glas to all, to perhaps visit again later in the again (Marie, I am open to bribes !!!)The menu looked superb and that's speaking as a former Chef myself. Nick has posted some photographs above but I will copy any Photographs I take and let you have them on a disc. All being well we will enjoy another brillaint afternoon and hopefully raise a few bob for the Runswick Bay rescue Boat. Here's looking forward to the 20th August |

15 Aug 06 - 07:44 AM (#1810248) Subject: RE: Glaisdale Sunday From: Raggytash Good plan, I had a similar idea myself ! Don't know about RHB folk club, but I have been asked to sing at Runswick Bay Rescue Boat BBQ on Saturday (free food, drink etc) but would like some assistance in that dept, don't fancy doing a whole night on my own |
15 Aug 06 - 05:29 PM (#1810594) Subject: RE: Glaisdale Sunday From: Herga Kitty Well, it clashes with Jim Mageean's first singaround and collection for the Whitby lifeboat, but I've never been to Glaisdale so might give it a try.... Kitty |
16 Aug 06 - 04:14 AM (#1810938) Subject: RE: Glaisdale Sunday From: Raggytash Some parts of the Regatta will be run over the first weekend of the Folk Festival as they could not be run due to inclement weather last weekend. Thus people may find the pubs crowded with revellers other than folkies, just another good reason for joining us in Glaisdale ! |
